Commanders Ex Bobby McCain Signs with Giants

The New York Giants are adding a familiar face in Washington Commanders defensive back Bobby McCain.

Washington Commanders safety Bobby McCain officially has a new home.

According to ESPN, McCain is signing a new one-year contract with the New York Giants after the Commanders cut him in February.

McCain, who turns 30 in August, played in every game for Washington in each of the past two seasons. In 2021, McCain recorded a career-high four interceptions and in 2022, he posted a career-high in tackles with 76.

Now, McCain joins the Giants with the chance to play a big role in New York and is set to play his old Commanders team twice in the upcoming season.

With McCain gone, younger players are expected to fill his role going into 2023. The team selected Percy Butler in the fourth round and Christian Holmes in the seventh in last year's draft. The team also has Tariq Castro-Fields, Rachaad Wildgoose, Troy Apke and DaMarcus Fields as depth pieces.

Washington even made an addition from outside the organization, claiming Cameron Dantzler Sr. off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings last week. And there's still a whole draft next month where the team can add even more talent to the position.

Replacing McCain won't be easy, but the Commanders have several paths they can go down and a lot of flexibility in the secondary.
