Commanders Finalize Coaching Staff With Hire of Special Teams Assistant
The Washington Commanders shared that on Tuesday morning they finalized their 2024 coaching staff after hiring a new assistant special teams coach.
Coach John Glenn joins the Commanders coaching staff after spending the past 12 years with the Seattle Seahawks.
"In 2023, the Seattle linebacker core proved to be the foundation of the defensive unit with linebacker Bobby Wagner leading the NFL in tackles (183) along with recording 100 tackles for his 12th consecutive season," Washington shared via press release. "Wagner became the third player in NFL history to accomplish that milestone. Last season, Glenn helped linebacker Jordyn Brooks transition from a Will linebacker to middle linebacker. Brooks led the NFC and was fifth in the NFL with 161 tackles. It is also the fourth-most for a single-season in Seattle history."
Glenn also spent two years coaching at the University of Washington and three leading the linebacker room for North Carolina Wesleyan College from 2006-08.
He'll join special teams coordinator Larry Izzo who also comes over from the Seahawks, a team new Commanders head coach Dan Quinn worked for from 2009 to 2014 before landing the top job with the Atlanta Falcons in 2015.
Washington previously announced the hiring of offensive and defensive coordinators Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Jr.
