Washington Commanders 'Focusing' On QB Jayden Daniels in NFL Draft? Top 6 Picks Predicted

We keep hearing that the Washington Commanders, valuing "mobility'' among other things in a modern-day QB, are "focusing'' on LSU star Jayden Smith with the No. 2 pick in the April NFL Draft.

And as it happens, that matches the view of our friend Benjamin Allbright, the Denver-based NFL analyst who over the years has a very good track record when predicting how the early picks in a draft will unfold.

Allbright has revealed his predictions for the top six picks in this year's draft. ... with a seemingly obvious selection up top ... a big trade in the middle ...

And Jayden to Washington as a featured event.

Allbright has the Chicago Bears taking USC quarterback Caleb Williams in the No. 1 spot. No shock there.

Allbright then has the Commanders selecting LSU star Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 pick. ... and in the wake of Washington's trade-away of Sam Howell to the Seahawks, that fits what we're hearing.

And then it gets interesting, as the analyst has the Minnesota Vikings - who just traded for another Round 1 pick via Houston - making another move up and acquiring the No. 3 pick in a deal with the Patriots.

In that scenario, he has Drake Maye going to Minny ... though that also means the Pats are moving down and passing on the idea of a premium QB.

The No. 4 pick in Allbright's mock draft has Marvin Harrison Jr. from Ohio State going to Arizona. The fifth pick, which belongs to the Chargers, is projected by Allbright to be an offensive tackle to protect Justin Herbert.

The sixth pick from Allbright involves the Giants, Washington's NFC East rival. And he expects New York - which missed out on Russell Wilson but still employs Daniel Jones - to take Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
