BREAKING: Jacoby Brissett Questionable For Commanders vs. 49ers
Jacoby Brissett's stint as the Washington Commanders' starting quarterback may be over before it even started.
Brissett landed on the Commanders' Friday injury report due to a hamstring injury and will be questionable vs. the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at FedEx Field at 1 p.m. ET. Brissett would be making his first start this season after he was named the starting quarterback vs. San Francisco (11-4) on Tuesday by Commanders head coach Ron Rivera.
Brissett has relieved quarterback Sam Howell in back-to-back games and nearly led two comebacks. Brissett completed 8 of 10 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns on Dec. 17 in the fourth quarter in a 28-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams (8-7). He also had a solid outing on Sunday against the New York Jets, completing 10 of 13 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown, nearly leading a 20-point comeback before the Commanders lost 30-28 on a game-winning field goal.
The veteran quarterback relieves Sam Howell, who has struggled mightily during the Commanders' six-game losing streak. In his last five games, Howell has thrown two touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. With Brissett being questionable heading into Sunday, Howell could be thrown right back into the fire against a 49ers defense that's one of the best in football.
Running back Brian Robinson Jr. will be back for Washington after missing back-to-back games with a hamstring injury.
