Commanders WR Jahan Dotson to 'Feast' His Way to Pro Bowl?

Washington Commanders second-year receiver Jahan Dotson showed flashes last season, but entering this year, big things are expected of the former Penn State star.

Expectations are high for Washington Commanders second-year receiver Jahan Dotson, but how high?

How about a Pro Bowl selection?

After a rookie season that saw Dotson amass 523 yards and seven touchdowns from 35 receptions, the "second-year leap" that the former Penn State star is expected to take is going to be a big one.

NFL.com selected a player from each team who could earn their first Pro Bowl selection, and for the Commanders, Dotson gets the nod.

"Commanders WR Terry McLaurin had to wait far too long to earn his first Pro Bowl nod. Dotson might not suffer the same fate," NFL.com wrote. "After a wobbly, injury-infested start to his rookie season, Dotson came on strong down the stretch, making 16 catches for 290 yards and two TDs in the season's final four games. With vice-grip hands, Dotson could grow into a scoring machine after leading Washington with seven receiving TDs in just 12 games played last season. Dotson owns the natural ability to stack numbers, and with defenses focused on McLaurin, the second-year WR could feast."

Dotson's rookie campaign was decent enough, given that he missed four games due to a hamstring injury. Against fellow rookies, he would finish the year sixth in receptions (35), tied first with Christian Watson for touchdowns (7), fifth in receiving yards (523), and fourth in yards per game with 43.6.

Now, as he enters his second year with Eric Bieniemy as his coordinator, Dotson is already off to a good start.

In his two preseason outings against the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, Dotson finished with seven receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown before being rested for the preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.

With Terry McLaurin taking the defense's best player and Curtis Samuel and Brian Robison doing their thing, Dotson may just slide under the radar.

Could he produce a good enough season to earn a Pro Bowl nod? With Bieniemy dialing up the plays, we wouldn't put it past him.
