'Not an F-Minus Guy': Washington Commanders' Josh Harris Wants to Change NFLPA Grade
Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris is well aware of his organization's poor grades on the NFLPA's report card, which featured five "F-minus" marks.
But Harris, speaking Tuesday at the league owners meetings in Orlando, is motivated to create change moving forward.
"Yeah, I'm not an F minus guy," Harris said with a laugh. "I didn't know you could get an F minus. Look, obviously we've jumped all over that. First of all, that report was based on interviews that occurred right around the ownership change. But having said that, it's clearly something that we're focused on."
The Commanders have roughly four months until players are in the building full-time at the start of training camp. Of course, they'll be around during OTAs, minicamp and other offseason programs, but camp reaches new heights.
And for Harris, having the five categories - the locker room, training room, training staff, treatment of families and team travel - improved as much as possible before training camp begins is an emphasis.
"There's only so much we can do by the start of training camp, and we're going to do that," Harris said. "It's going to be about the player experience, the player lounge, refinishing a bunch of things. But we have a lot more planned in terms of looking at the playing surface itself, looking at the locker room, looking at the bathroom facility."
The Commanders can officially start their offseason program under new head coach Dan Quinn next week, marking the beginning of a new era on several counts. Harris hopes it brings many wins - and, most imortantly, better reviews from players this time next offseason.
"Everything we can do right now to make our players feel great about coming to work, feel comfortable, feel well taken care of, we're going to do," Harris said.
