Washington Commanders New Coach Kliff Kingsbury: 'The Biggest Fraud in Football', Says NFL Analyst
In this story:

LAS VEGAS - There is at least a molehill of truth when it comes to scanning the resume of new Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and wondering if it is loaded with impressive accomplishments.

But does it add up to a mountain of a conclusion that Kingsbury is "the biggest fraud in football"?

That is the assertion of CBS Sports Radio show host Damon Amendolara, who was here in Las Vegas for Super Bowl Week and uttered those words to The Team 980’s Craig Hoffman.

The former Arizona Cardinals head coach and now USC Trojans assistant coach Kliff Kingsbury talks to quarterback Caleb Williams (13) during the pregame warmup before playing the Arizona State Sun Devils at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe on Sept. 23, 2023.

“I think he is the biggest fraud in football," Amendolara said of the key hire to new head coach Dan Quinn's staff, "because he has not succeeded anywhere he has been to any significant degree.”

Amendolara proceded to rattle off some semi-specific criticisms, noting that his best season as a head coach at Texas Tech saw him go 7-5 ... and that was with Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback.

Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Kliff Kingsbury Hire

It is worth noting as a counterpoint that Mahomes - who on Sunday won his third Super Bowl in the last five years as the Kansas City Chiefs QB - absolutely raves about Kingsbury ...

Still, Amendolara plowed on, saying that when Kingsbury became the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, "The one year they go to the postseason they are completely ill-prepared.

Kingsbury also got ripped by host here for his work as an assistant on the USC staff, where QB Caleb Williams - maybe the top player in the upcoming NFL Draft and maybe a Washington target with the No. 2 overall pick - was his star pupil.

Said Amendolara: “His team is known for penalties, poor coaching and sloppy play ... This guy has never proven anything. He just keeps getting plum jobs.”
