NFL Draft: Commanders Take Another OL, Select Utah's Braeden Daniels
The Washington Commanders are starting off the final day of the NFL Draft by adding to the offensive line once again with the No. 118 pick.
The newest member of the Commanders is Utah guard Braeden Daniels, giving the team another interior lineman to compete for a starting spot.
"Daniels is a versatile lineman who has flashes of well-framed blocks and lateral agility, but his lack of play strength, questionable agility, and underdeveloped technique make him a late-round pick at best," SI Draft Bible writes.
The versatility is important for the Commanders, and that was evidenced in their free agency signings on the offensive line as well.
“The great thing about Andrew [Wylie] and Nick [Gates] and Trent [Scott] is their position flexibility, versatility," general manager Martin Mayhew said. "Trent has played pretty much everywhere except center. Andrew has played guard and tackle and Nick has played center and guard. We have the flexibility there to go anywhere in the draft. Add someone and put the pieces wherever the pieces line up.”
The move comes after adding a pair of defensive backs in the first two rounds in Emmanuel Forbes and Quan Martin, while anchoring the offensive line with Arkansas center Ricky Stromberg in the third round late last night.
The Commanders are back on the clock in the fifth round with pick No. 150.
