NFL Mock Draft: Commanders Trade Up For Caleb Williams?
Much of this offseason's discussion regarding the Washington Commanders is what they do with their No. 2 overall pick.
USC's Caleb Williams is the consensus No. 1 pick, but as it stands, the Chicago Bears have their hands on it. Whether or not Washington decides it needs a quarterback is going to be the biggest decision of the offseason, and if those conversations end with the Commanders wanting a new quarterback, then a decision has to be made.
Who do they go for?
In the latest NFL Mock Draft, CBS Sports has the Commanders trading up and taking Williams as first overall.
"Washington will have a new head coach, a new general manager and an owner looking to jumpstart an organization that has had eight straight losing seasons," CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson writes. "It has to get the quarterback right, and while Caleb Williams is my QB1, he will have competition. And if the Commanders think they have their guy, they'll trade up to get him -- even if it's just one spot -- before someone else does."
With so much change expected both on and off the field for the Commanders, it is looming as a crucial offseason that could shape the organization's future for the next decade.
