Washington Commanders Provide Update After FedEx Field Showers Go Cold

An issue with the water heater left the Washington Commanders and New York Giants unable to shower after their game.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do after a hard-fought divisional game is take a shower and move on with your day. 

Except for the Washington Commanders and New York Giants, they couldn't do that after their game on Sunday at FedEx Field. The Commanders' stadium had "an equipment failure," which left the showers in both lockers without hot water. 

A Commanders official released a statement through NFL insider Adam Schefter, which he posted on X.

"We had an equipment failure in the main water heater that provides hot water to the field-level locker rooms," the official said. "We can’t resolve the matter without completely shutting off the water to the stadium, which is why it couldn’t be repaired in game.”

The only thing worse than having players and coaches from both teams upset after the game at the realization of no hot water in their showers is upsetting the majority sold-out crowd that was likely already fed up with what they were seeing from the Commanders in what was arguably their worst loss of the season because the stadium didn't have water.

Washington (4-7) turned the ball over six times in its 31-19 loss to the Giants (3-8). To make matters worse, the Commanders' defense was torched by third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito, who completed 18 of 26 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns.

Whether it was the ghost former owner Dan Snyder getting in one last laugh during Ron Rivera's tenure as the team's head coach or just another incident for a stadium that's had its fair share of errors, nothing should surprise Commanders and football fans when it comes to the team or stadium errors.

And if Washington lays another egg on Thanksgiving when it plays the Dallas Cowboys (7-3) at AT&T Stadium at 4:30 p.m. ET, it's likely going to take more than a hot shower to get over a third-straight loss.
