Caleb Williams 'Cool' with Hometown Commanders Drafting Him?

Does USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the favorite to go No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft, have any interest in getting selected by his hometown Commanders?

The Washington Commanders offseason continues to progress, and the resounding hope amongst fans is that somehow the franchise manages to land hometown kid turned generational draft prospect Caleb Williams.

Although the Commanders currently hold the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, Williams spoke during Combine week and shared what it would mean if he were to stay home in Washington.

“It'd be really cool because it's so familiar,” Williams said of playing for the Commanders to ESPN. “There's a time and place for everything. My job and my hobby is being at the facility or on the field or watching film. Or relaxing and prepping for the next day or game. My main goal and focus … is to go win games and stay focused on keeping the main goal the main goal.”

It sounds as though the familiarity isn't something that Williams would shy away from. Some players prefer to get away from home and avoid the distractions of familiarity and people from home fighting for attention while trying to establish themselves in the pros.

Commanders Meet with Top QB at Combine

However, since it appears Williams holds no such fear of getting drafted to Washington, the franchise should, at the very least, continue to monitor the Chicago Bears No. 1 overall pick and what the team decides to do with current starter Justin Fields.

For months, it has been rumored that Fields could get moved in the offseason, but if the Bears have a change of heart, the Commanders should be ready to swoop in and offer a trade package for this year's top pick.
