Commanders' Sam Howell Inexperience an Advantage?

Sam Howell has only started one game for the Washington Commanders, but maybe his inexperience makes him a sneaky threat.
In this story:

The Washington Commanders and Ron Rivera have settled on North Carolina's Sam Howell to quarterback the franchise.

But how do you trust a guy with one start, 169 yards a touchdown and a pick? And how do you trust him when you have Jacoby Brissett, a guy with seven years of experience and 10,350 passing yards? Well, you gamble.

Howell has yet to prove anything on the NFL playing field, and it remains to be seen how he'll pan out as a starter. But Fansided makes the case that his experience, and lack of pro exposure, give Howell an advantage.

"Howell might be a surprise teams don't see coming over the first few weeks until there is substantial film to go off. After that, it'll come down to the game-to-game planning of Bieniemy and the signal-caller's execution," Fansided wrote.

Alright, sure, I can get behind that. It's possible that Howell has some tricks up his sleeve. Remember Brissett's first few games in New England? Before anyone knew how to stop him, he surprised the league.

So can Washington be good just because its quarterback is young?

"This should be enough for the Commanders to be competitive," Fansided said. "Their defense should be enough to keep them in most games - so Howell will have some chances to prove his worth as a clutch asset capable of manning the position for the next decade."

Before we go talking about Howell being in a Commanders' jersey a decade from now, let's just survive year one. And hopefully, his first season as a starter is where the young signal caller takes the NFL by surprise.
