NFL Draft: Which Commanders Pick Was 'Questionable'?

Not everyone was a fan of the Washington Commanders taking Arkansas offensive lineman Ricky Stromberg.

Improving the offensive line has been a huge point of emphasis for the Washington Commanders in the offseason.

Washington's run at improving the unit continued in the 2023 NFL Draft when they took two offensive linemen, Arkansas' Ricky Stromberg in the third round and Utah's Braeden Daniels in the fourth.

Among the two picks, CBS Sports wasn't the biggest fan of the Commanders taking Stromberg in the third round but noted his versatility and ability to develop.

"Stromberg is a highly experienced lineman who has played the highest level of competition outside of the NFL," CBS Sports writes. "He has a bit of positional versatility and is a savvy, team-oriented lineman. I was lower on him because of concerns over balance but this is the type of lineman who teams will want developing in their building."

SI Draft Bible shared CBS Sports' sentiment over his balance but noted he has a chance to be more than serviceable for Washington.

"While he must improve his weight distribution and leverage to compensate for limited lateral movement skills, Ricky Stromberg’s intelligence and rare power profile make him a potentially strong starter in the league," SI Draft Bible writes.

Stromberg started 44 games for the Razorbacks, including 25 straight at the end of his career. He was also given the SEC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy, which goes to the best lineman in the conference.

If Stromberg continues his success from the college ranks, he should have a chance to start right away on a Washington offensive line that allowed 48 sacks in 2022.
