Washington Commanders' Ron Rivera Details What Bye Week Looks Like For Team
To say the Washington Commanders needed their bye week is an understatement after coming off back-to-back blowout losses to the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins.
With the Commanders sitting at 4-9 on the season and having a tough remaining schedule, the bye week presents a good chance for the team and coaches to recalibrate and reset before attacking the final four games.
For Rivera, part of the bye week will be used to dissect the Dolphins game and get an idea from the playing group about how things went.
“We'll look at some of the things and see what happened and really talk to the players a little bit tomorrow and the next day just to see where they are," Rivera said on The GamePlan. "How they thought things went, what do they feel. I mean because part of is you know these guys got to go out and they got to execute. You want to make sure you're giving them every opportunity to be successful, so we'll look at that thing those things as well.”
Washington will no doubt use the remaining games to try and find its best football, which, over the last four games, as in three of them, the offense, led by Sam Howell, has failed to score more than 19 points. Meanwhile, the defense hasn't kept a team under 29 points.
So, there are plenty of things to work on in the final month of the season, and part of that is player evaluation, as the team could have an eye on next season and what players they want around next year.
'(Bleep), I've Been Through Enough!' Is Rivera Really 'At Peace'?
But for now, the Commanders aren't thinking football and are using the bye week to get away and recharge before beginning the final stretch of their season.
There is still much to play for as Washington will not want to end the season with a whimper.
