Terry McLaurin Named Commanders MVP After Another Productive Season
You will be hard-pressed to find a more productive receiver in NFL football than Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin. After five seasons in the nation's capital and multiple head coaches, coordinators, and quarterbacks, McLaurin's production has never changed.
With Eric Bieniemy the new offensive coordinator and Sam Howell the new quarterback this year, McLaurin was again a shining light in what was another disappointing season for Washington.
And due to that, CBS Sports has named McLaurin as the Commanders' MVP.
"Is there a more underrated wide receiver in the NFL than Terry McLaurin? The fifth-year veteran continues to produce with less than ideal quarterback play and 2023 was no exception," CBS Sports writes. But those numbers don't even do justice to McLaurin's impact on the offense. That said, with another thousand-yard season, McLaurin became the first player in franchise history to cross that threshold in four straight years."
It has now been four straight years of 1,000+ yards and at least four touchdowns for McLaurin and he shows no signs of slowing down. This season, he led the Commanders in yards, targets (132), yards per game (58.9) and receptions (79).
While the Washington offense at times, struggled, McLaurin was the only constant in the passing game as when Howell was in trouble, he would look 17's way.
With nothing to play for over the last month of the season, McLaurin could have been forgiven if he took his foot off the gas pedal, but he did the opposite.
In his last four games, McLaurin caught 19 balls for 308 yards and two touchdowns which his efforts against the Los Angeles Rams (6 rec, 141 yards, 1 TD) the highlight of his season.
There have been a lot of question surrounding the Commanders offense going forward but there is no doubting what McLaurin brings to the table.
Commanders WR Review: McLaurin Hits 1,000; Consistency Escapes Others
He has had an everchanging environment since coming to Washington and with another offseason that will see plenty of moving pieces, come 2024, McLaurin will have a new head coach and could possibly have another quarterback throwing him passes.
Regardless, pencil in McLaurin for another 1,000-yard season because, well, that's just what he does.
