Commanders Ex Tim Settle Motivator for Bills' Week 3 Win
The Washington Commanders dropped their first game of the season on Sunday, as the Buffalo Bills came into FedEx Field and dominated en route to a 37-3 win.
And though he only had one tackle in the win, Bills defensive tackle Tim Settle revealed after the game that he might've been the behind-the-scenes motivator for his teammates while playing against the team that drafted him.
Settle, a fifth-round pick by Washington in 2018, even threw some slight shade at his former team by calling their play on Sunday "iffy."
“This energy and what we were able to do here and being able to shut out a good team early in the season and have them looking really iffy," Settle said. "So, the fact that we were able to come in here and I feel like everybody was playing for me, and everybody was doing their thing and they said, “We’re going to do it for you.” Everybody was just making plays; it was a surreal moment.”
In reality, Settle hardly needed to do much in a game where the Bills defense dominated to the tune of nine sacks, four interceptions, one touchdown, 15 quarterback hits and one fumble recovery. But his presence on the d-line certainly helped aid in the suffocating impact on Commanders quarterback Sam Howell, who was under pressure all afternoon.
During his four seasons in Washington, Settle posted 54 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits one fumble recovery and seven sacks while making 63 appearances and two starts.
The Commanders will hit the road to face the Eagles on Sunday for a Week 4 NFC East matchup.
