Commanders Trade Rumors: Chase Young Headed to Houston Texans?

In a mock trade between the Houston Texans and Washington Commanders, Bleacher Report is underselling Young's value.
In this story:

The Washington Commanders and Chase Young have not publicly had a sour relationship, but the team's decision to not pick up his fifth-year option has the rumor mill swirling.

In the latest round of trade proposals for the young, injury-plagued star, Bleacher Report has listed out numerous trade scenarios for the edge rusher.

Mock Trade: Chase Young to HOU for 2024 third-rounder, Jonathan Greenard

"In a rebuild, the Texans may finish with a record well below .500," Bleacher Report writes. "So, the Commanders would likely add a top-75 pick for next year's draft, and they would get a 26-year-old defensive end who led Houston with eight sacks for the 2021 campaign."

Since winning Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 in 15 starts, Young has played in just 12 games due to injury. Even so, his career includes nine sacks and three fumble recoveries over 27 games.

Young, by all public accounts and once healthy, is still considered to be a budding star in the NFL. Is a budding star, who's just 23 years old and a former rookie standout worth ... a third-rounder and Jonathan Greenard?

Greenard has played in 33 games and has fewer fumble recoveries and just 1.5 more sacks. What's more, he missed most of 2022 with a torn calf. And don't sugarcoat the third-round pick by calling it "top-75."

What are we doing here? This mock trade undervalues Young's future contributions to the league as a whole, and it would be shocking for 2020's No. 2 overall draft pick to be on the block for so little return.
