Washington Commanders Defense Went 'Full Tropic Thunder' vs. Miami Dolphins, Says Analyst
Tyreek Hill is on the verge of a historic season, and the Washington Commanders aided the Miami Dolphins receiver's push to make history on Sunday.
Hill had five catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Washington's 45-15 loss to Miami at FedEx Stadium. Hill's two touchdowns went for 78 and 60 yards, respectively. NBC analyst and former NFL quarterback Chris Simms was critical of the Commanders' defense and compared their play to the movie "Tropic Thunder," for how they played against Hill on his podcast, "Simms Unbuttoned."
Simms played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos across five seasons from 2004-2009.
"Did Washington know who they were playing today?" Simms said. "What were they thinking? That was [a] full Tropic Thunder performance from them on the defensive side of the ball. How many times are you going to leave the guy that we've seen the whole year beat everybody in man-to-man?"
Hill has 93 catches for 1,481 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. He thanked Washington after the game for how they defended him.
"At some point, it's like man," Hill said. "I don't know, man, I just appreciate it. Thanks for not respecting me."

The loss marked the second straight time Washington has allowed 45 points. The Commanders' (4-9) defense is dead last in points allowed per game with 30.4.
Ahmed Fareed, who is on the show with Simms, said he believes Washington's defense is broken. He also said he believes it's related to the team trading Montez Sweat and Chase Young at the trade deadline.
"They're a broken team on defense," Fareed said. "You trade away your two best edge-rushers, that's going to eventually happen. It almost feels like they've given up on the season."
It was an abysmal performance from the Commanders' defense that had head coach Ron Rivera calling plays for the first time this season after former defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio was fired on Nov. 24. Despite the coaching change, it was more of the same from a Washington team that has now lost four in a row.
If things don't turn around after the bye week, more historic performances could come against Washington's defense with five games left in the season.
