The secondary for the Washington Redskins was a question mark going into the Week 2 home opener against the Dallas Cowboys, but it would be the secondary that made the first impact play of the game. Safety Montae Nicholson intercepted a batted ball to set up the Redskins on the Cowboys 37-yard line.

The interception, which was just the first against the Redskins in the career of quarterback Dak Prescott, was the product of pressure from Daron Payne who forced Prescott to step up into the pocket before unleashing an unbalanced throw behind wideout Randall Cobb.

The play by Nicholson jumpstarted the action as neither offense could find its footing for most of the opening quarter. Washington took advantage of the short-field, going on a 38-yard, 10 play offensive drive the ensuing possession for the first points of the game.

And who better than Adrian Peterson to do it as the veteran back bowled his way into the end zone to give the Redskins their first touchdown of the game. It marked his 107 rushing touchdowns for his career, moving him into fifth all-time.

Washington leads 7-0 in the second quarter.
