Breaking: Case Keenum named starter for Week 1
Head coach Jay Gruden has finally let it be known what has become apparent in recent weeks.
After a prolonged quarterback competition that spanned longer than it should have, the Washington Redskins have a starting quarterback for their Week 1 tilt against the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Case Keenum has won the job.
Over the offseason, the team acquired the veteran via trade, then drafted Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins to compete with veteran backup Colt McCoy. A slow recovery from injury derailed McCoy's chances at the job and a steep learning curve for Haskins after starting just one season in Columbus made things difficult for him.
