Redskins DE Jonathan Allen leaves game with knee injury
Defensive End Jonathan Allen hurt in first quarter of season opener.
The Washington Redskins have suffered the first injury of the season, as defensive end Jonathan Allen had to be helped off the field in the first quarter with an apparent left leg injury.
A key cog in the Washington defensive line, Allen, a former first-round pick from Alabama, notched eight sacks in 2018.
The severity of the injury is unknown at this time, but Allen is questionable to return to the game and was seen walking heading to the locker room.
The third-year defensive end is a key cog for the Redskins' defense. He checked in with eight sacks in 2018 along with 15 quarterback hits. After a truncated rookie season of just five games after a lisfranc injury to his left foot, he started all 16 contests last season.
