Washington Signs a New Returner to Practice Squad

A couple of days after promoting Jeff Badet, a 4.27/40 timed receiver to the active roster along with Tony Brown, the Washington Football Team added more juice to their practice squad.

Trevor Davis was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round in 2016 and has also spent time with the Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears.
He's 27, played his college ball at Cal (Ron Rivera's alma mater) and also at Hawaii. He was one of Jared Goff's main targets before both went pro.
Davis ran a 4.42/40 at the combine back in 2016 and along with his vertical jump attracted the attention of the Packers and their usual very smart scouting staff.
In his NFL career, he's caught only 16 passes for 205 yards and a score. He did have a 60-yard touchdown run for the Raiders last year against the Colts.
The number that jumped out to me? Four fumbles with three lost.
Ball security in such a little sample has to be much better if Ron Rivera and Scott Turner are going to give him a chance on the active roster eventually.
Davis does have a good deal of experience as a punt returner with 59 returns for 593 yards, a 10.1 average and as a kick returner with nearly identical 58 returned kickoffs for almost 1,300 yards and a 22.4 yards per return average.
Currently, the Washington Football Team is averaging 4.5 per punt (NFL average 8.1) and 17.6 per kick return (NFL average 22.5).
Needless to say they need an upgrade in those areas and perhaps Davis is that answer.
