Family Feud: Trevon Diggs' Dallas Cowboys vs. Stefon Diggs' Houston Texans Prime-Time Worthy?
There’s not only one member of the Diggs family residing in Texas anymore. Once the Houston Texans made a blockbuster trade earlier this week acquiring All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs, two family members now live in the same state.
And next season, the Diggs brothers will finally face off as Trevon’s Dallas Cowboys take on Stefon’s Texans.
Since Trevon entered the NFL in 2020, the Diggs brothers have never matched up across from each other in an NFL regular season or postseason game. The Cowboys and Bills played last season, but Trevon missed the game with his season-ending injury.
With that about to change, expect this to be a prime-time matchup. What about Thanksgiving? Imagine the possibilities for NFL marketing groups with a Texas-size showdown in Dallas on one of their biggest calendar days of the season, in terms of eyeballs on the product.
The NFL schedule won't be released until next month, but we already know the Cowboys will host the Texans at some point during the season.
Both the Cowboys and Texans appear to be squarely in the Super Bowl contender conversations this year, too. There’s no way this game isn’t juiced-up to the gills for a primetime audience at some point.
An interesting wrinkle to the Diggs trade, which was unveiled on Thursday, showed the Texans voided the final three years of his extension originally signed with the Buffalo Bills. Now, Diggs has the opportunity to enter free agency following his age-31 season in 2024-25.
Interestingly enough, the Cowboys currently project to have around $100 million in salary cap space next offseason. What if Dallas decided to bring Trevon’s brother aboard as the ultimate 1B wideout to CeeDee Lamb’s 1A? That right there is the splashy move Cowboys owner Jerry Jones always fantasizes about.
Whenever the Diggs brothers play against each other next season, get ready for some appointment television with Trevon likely shadowing Stefon on almost every snap.
