Cowboys 3-Round Mock: Dallas Drafts O-Line Beef, RB Starter
The Dallas Cowboys have been so strangely quiet in free agency this season, it would only makes sense that Jerry Jones & Co. plan on re-tooling in the upcoming NFL Draft.
After losses to the offensive line in Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz, the Cowboys almost have no choice but to address the position at the end of this month.
Also gone is starting running back Tony Pollard, who signed a free agent contract with the Tennessee Titans. That's also a need they will have to address.
In Bleacher Report's most recent three-round mock draft, Dallas addresses offensive line with their first- and second-round picks.
Dallas Cowboys - Pick 24: OT Amarius Sims, Georgia
With Tyron Smith out, Tyler Smith settling in at guard and Terence Steele serving as a merely functional right tackle, Dallas should be interested in adding tackle help.
"While Mims' eight career starts clouds the picture with his projection to the NFL, the tools and natural ability are clearly in place to become a high-end starting tackle over time, and the Cowboys are in desperate need of those traits at left tackle," Brandon Thorn of the B/R Scouting Department said.
Dallas Cowboys - Pick 56: IOL Zach Frazier, West Virginia
The B/R Scouting Department went with West Virginia interior lineman Zach Frazier. Frazier, who projects as a starting-caliber center at the pro level, would fill an obvious need in the wake of Biadasz's departure.
Dallas Cowboys - Pick 87: RB Jonathan Brooks, Texas
Jonathan Brooks is a twitchy, explosive back who could use more refinement and muscle to round out his game.
Brooks' quickness is the first thing that pops off the screen. Behind the line of scrimmage, he has the lateral explosion to switch rushing lanes with ease at the last second. That same explosive ability shows up at the second level. Brooks has the juice to make defenders miss in space, and he is always hunting for chances to prove it.
While B/R has Mims going to Dallas in this mock draft, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. likes offensive tackle Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma. NFL Media's Chad Reuter likes the Cowboys taking a running back in the first round with Jonathan Brooks from Texas.
The last time Dallas took a running back in the first round was 2016 when they took Ezekiel Elliott with the No. 5 overall pick - and that didn't work out too bad.
