Dallas Cowboys Signing Ezekiel Elliott? Does Jerry Jones Have A Better Idea?

FRISCO - At one point, we thought the Dallas Cowboys were just waiting until after Halloween to shop for candy, if you get our meaning. Now we know better. Jerry Jones' "All In'' has become "Do More With Less.''

Which leads us to the Cowboys' running back room, where we are told a reunion with Ezekiel Elliott is suddenly more possible than ever.

With each passing hour, Elliott - whom the Cowboys have not "officially'' connected with, a source tells CowboysSI.com - becomes a viable name.

So, by the way, does Dalvin Cook. So, by the way, does JK Dobbins.

Warts and weaknesses? No doubt. But now the idea of getting better than the departed Tony Pollard is - pending the NFL Draft pick who arrives to rescue everything! - dead. (Now more than ever we know how laughable those Saquon Barkley "reports'' were.)

Anyone with even the most casual interest in 2023 NFL football could tell you that Elliott isn't what he used to be. But he's Dak Prescott's best pal ... and right now, given the Jerry Jones announcement about zero movement planned on the QB's contract (meaning he can be free in 2025) ... this building could use some unity and bonding.

Zeke lives within a football throw of The Star. He's a two-time rushing champ who handled himself fine last year with the Patriots after Dallas dumped him. He's a feel-good story. (Jerry's got old Zeke T-shirts to sell.) He's got no other offers. It's not a great idea. But heck, the Cowboys seem to be fresh out of great ideas. Maybe any old idea will have to do.
