Dalvin Cook Wants To Sign With Needy Dallas Cowboys: Report

FRISCO - Know this going in: At no point in the last year amid numerous opportunities to hook up with Dalvin Cook did the Dallas Cowboys have any interest. Not when the Vikings dumped him. Not when the Jets pursued him. Not when the Jets dangled him at the trade deadline. Not when the Jets dumped him.

But today is a new (dark?) day. And suddenly, "Dalvin to Dallas'' has fresh legs. (Even though Dalvin himself might not.)

Cook, the faded Pro Bowl back, is now reportedly interested in signing with the Cowboys. ... right about the same time another faded star, old pal Ezekiel Elliott, finds his hat having been thrown into the ring. (Might as well include the rehabbing JK Dobbins' name in the pile as well.

Would Cook be “low-risk/high-reward” … or no reward at all?

While the top players entering the market like Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry and Austin Ekeler having long ago found homes elsewhere (along with the embarrassment some outlets should feel for falsely "reporting'' Dallas connections) ... the Cowboys are acknowledging a Tier 4 search. Tony Pollard is gone. There are backs on the roster here. None of them have the credentials of a Cook … the former Vikings All-Pro who looked out of gas last year with the Jets.

Could the Cowboys bring a guy in and get quality running back on a team-friendly deal? We don't know about "quality.'' But "team-friendly deal''?

Amid the present "Blow It Up!'' atmosphere here at The Star ... is there any other kind?
