A Cowboys voice night off in Week 4, with Ted Emrich stepping in for Brad Sham
FRISCO - The voice of the Dallas Cowboys, our pal Brad Sham, will take a night off. Another fine voice will take his place.
The Cowboys have announced that Sham will miss just his third game in his 41 seasons with the franchise as he celebrates the first night of the Jewish New Year on September 29. That's Week 4 of the NFL season, Cowboys at New Orleans in a night game, So taking his place on flagship station 105.3 The Fan that night will be Ted Emrich, son of the late Roger Emrich, a fixture at 105.3 The Fan and 1080 KRLD who passed away at the age of 62 in April.
Roger - a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame - was also the voice of AT&T Stadium. His son has followed wonderfully in his footsteps, especially as a play-by-play announcer who has provided national coverage of college football and college basketball games and has contributed to the Westwood One coverage of the Masters and the Olympics from London, Sochi, and Rio.
Sham, of course, is an iconic voice in North Texas and fixture with the Cowboys, with the radio broadcast booth at AT&T Stadium named in his honor.
Babe Laufenberg, of course, will continue in his role as the color man, as yours truly will be part of the pregame and postgame shows on 105.3 The Fan and the Cowboys Radio Network.
