Can Dallas Cowboys Afford to Outbid Buffalo Bills on Dorance Armstrong in NFL Free Agency?

FRISCO - Amid the usual flurry of criticism of the Dallas Cowboys front office, many aspects of their roster-building habits deserve praise.

Three straight 12-5 seasons say it is so.

One of those strengths is the habit of collecting and developing defensive ends … to the point that when one leaves via free agency, a surplus of talent remains in place.

Will Dallas alter its usual path for Dorance Armstrong?

The Buffalo Bills are noted by Sports Illustrated as a suitor for the Cowboys pass rusher..

"Armstrong made the most of his limited opportunities behind a stacked group of pass rushers in Dallas," Sports Illustrated writes. "Many teams might be willing to overlook his lack of starting experience and bet on his upside. But if that’s not the case, the Bills would be wise to swoop in and possibly land him on a bargain deal.”

We will argue that if an “bargain deal” / whatever that is - is to be had, maybe Dallas is the team that ought to create one,

Armstrong, 26, generated 16 total sacks the past two seasons. … and the Bills’ Leonard Floyd and A.J. Epenesa, the team's top-two pass rushers are set to him free agency.

Did Cowboys ‘Screw’ Micah on Fifth-Year Option? Truth on Contract

In Dallas? If Armstrong is allowed to leave, it’ll be due to some level of faith in Sam Williams’ step-up ability. But if “DA” can really be signed on a team-friendly contract, as SI suggests? It should be Dallas that bets on his upside with more playing time as an heir to DeMarcus Lawrence opposite Micah Parsons.
