Cowboys ‘Agent Zero’: Parsons Protege ‘Everywhere’ Vs. Jags?
FRISCO - DeMarvion Overshown plans to be “everywhere” for the Dallas Cowboys defense in 2023. But first things first for the rookie …
So the “everywhere” for now includes existing under the wing of star Micah Parsons, arguably the best defensive player in the NFL.
And the next “everywhere” is at AT&T Stadium on Saturday in the preseason opener against Jacksonville - a game in which the University of Texas product figures to play a key role.
Said Parsons: “He’s gravitated to me. … You see a flash. You see him shoot a gap. I’m like, ‘Bro, just let it go all the time. Stop thinking, just play your game.’ ”
That’s how you show that you have a frickin playmaker. … I couldn’t be happier for him.”
Will Overshown make it into the Cowboys rotation at linebacker early enough to make an instant impact? That remains to be seen. … and it is an important storyline on Saturday as he tries to catch up with Damone, Clark and Jabril Cox in that rotation, with Micah and Leighton Vander Esch, secure at the top of the depth chart.
But once the regular season starts? Parsons’ knack for disrupting offenses, along with the Cowboys' stellar defensive pass rush talent, will be the story.
Can “Agent Zero,” as the Arp, Texas, native was called in Austin, be part of that story?.
“Any and everywhere,” Overshown said of the “plan for me: just moving me around. … I'm just excited to work, whatever they need me to do, I'm gonna do it."
