Cowboys Dominate Texans 34-0 in preseason dress rehearsal

ARLINGTON - The Dallas Cowboys made their first appearance of 2019 at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night, hosting the Houston Texans in a 'dress rehearsal' matchup in which the starting units got their most extended run of the preseason.
After going three-and-out on their first possession, the Cowboys would quickly respond on the defensive side of the ball when Taco Charlton forced and recovered a DeShaun Watson fumble deep in Houston territory.
Dallas would convert the turnover into a Dak Prescott to Michael Gallup touchdown just a few plays later, and the Cowboys would never look back.
For the remaining 56 minutes, the Cowboys would dominate all three phases of the game, with Charlton having one of the best showings (albeit against preseason competition) of his young career with two sacks and the aforementioned forced fumble.
It's Taco Tuesday every day.

Unfortunately for Charlton, he would be forced to leave the field with a leg injury, and would not return. Our man Mike Fisher caught up with Taco for an update, here:

However, with the help of Kerry Hyder, who had two sacks of his own, the defense remained strong, piling up eight sacks, forcing four turnovers, and holding the Texans to just 135 yards of total offense.
Offensively, the Cowboys saw just about everything they wanted to see out of the starting unit, before pulling Dak Prescott after just a couple of possessions. Tony Pollard ran the ball effectively with 26 yards and six carries, and Alfred Morris added a goal-line score. And Cooper Rush looked legit as a No. 2 QB.
Said Jerry Jones of Rush: "I actually thought he played the best I've seen him play tonight."
The offensive MVP award may have belonged to Devin Smith, however, as he hauled in a very impressive six catches for 79 yards on 10 targets, averaging 13.2 yards per catch.
The Cowboys would put an exclamation point on their first preseason shutout win since 2012 with a Mike White touchdown pass to Jordan Chunn in the third quarter, and the defense holding up their end of the bargain for the final 20 minutes of action.
Another @dallascowboys TD to extend their lead to 34-0!

The Cowboys will round out their preseason tune-up slate next week with a Thursday night matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as they continue to eye their September 8th season opener against the New York Giants.
