Cowboys EXCLUSIVE: Troy Aikman On Dak Prescott 'Old-School' Super Bowl Desire - VIDEO

Troy Aikman has never been shy about expressing his admiration for Dak Prescott, who in our recent conversation with him labeled the present-day Dallas star "an old-school quarterback ... and an old-school person.''

DALLAS - Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman has never been shy about expressing his admiration for Dak Prescott, who in our recent conversation with him labeled the present-day Dallas star "an old-school quarterback ... and an old-school person.''

"It never has been, and shouldn't be, for anybody,'' Aikman said of stats. "We're there to win football games. So the numbers don't really matter much ... But they mean a lot to a lot of different players. There are a lot of players who say, "All I want to do is win.' But that's not true, because we see those same players upset when they're not getting their numbers.

"Dak is not one of those guys,'' Aikman said. "That's one of the things I respect so much about him.''

The Hall-of-Famer Aikman sees Prescott as the rightful heir to his (and Roger Staubach's) throne because he believes Dak understands “the expectations of winning a Super Bowl'' better than pretty much anybody else who has tried to play this role.

“Dak has never cowered to the expectations of winning the Super Bowl,” Aikman also said on Friday. “He’s the only one I’ve heard since I’ve played that is really adamant about that being the standard for a Cowboys QB.”

The off-the-field contributions to the community matter. The numbers matter, too, but only in a way. And all of it is elevated greatly by making sacrifices toward winning. Before Aikman, Staubach did it. Then Aikman did it. And now Troy Aikman continues to believe that Dak Prescott is on the "old-school'' path to doing it for the Dallas Cowboys as well.
