Cowboys ‘Not Ruling Out’ Ezekiel Elliott Signing - Jerry Jones

“We're reading the tea leaves,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says in his latest thoughts on an Ezekiel Elliott return. “He’s not ruled out at all.”

To Jerry Jones, this is apparently one of his hardest “goodbyes.” Or maybe what just happened with a suspension to a Dallas Cowboys running back has made a “hello” to Ezekiel Elliott that much more inviting.

“We're reading the tea leaves,” Jones said on Tuesday when the Cowboys owner was asked on 105.3 The Fan for his latest thoughts on an Elliott return. “He’s not ruled out at all.”

Ronald Jones’ two-game suspension (for PEDs), announced on Monday, figures to be part of the “tea leaves” being read. So does the ongoing performances of the young foursome left behind to compete for work as starter Tony Pollard’s backup.

Jones has always been steadfast in his thoughts on the concept of re-signing Elliott, who was released this off-season as a cap casualty, we can say definitely though that a reunion was never exactly “planned.”

Of course, neither was Ronald Jones' suspension.
