FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett reported on Monday that "the MRI (on right tackle La'el Collins' knee) was fine ... We'll take it day-to-day. LC is a tough guy.'' And if "toughness'' is all it takes? Maybe Collins and his bookend, left tackle Tyron Smith, will both be available for Week 6 at the Jets.

Collins sustained the knee injury during the third quarter of Sunday's 34-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Monday afternoon afternoon MRI being deemed as "fine'' sounds fairly position. Collins may be dealing with a so-called "minor'' sprain, which he potentially could play through Sunday at the New York Jets.

The week before, in a 12-10 loss at New Orleans, Smith was lost on the final series to a freakish ankle injury. He spent two days in a walking boot but by Sunday was doing pregame rehab work. He is talking about wishing to return vs. the Jets.

"We'll see,'' Garrett said, echoing his usual company line regarding Tyron. "We'll just take it day-by-day.''

Cameron Fleming was the left tackle of record against the Packers. Rookie Brandon Knight (an undrafted 22-year-old out of Indiana) - getting his first turn on the 46-man roster - replaced Collins and the coaching staff believes, given the circumstances, he held up OK.

TUESDAY UPDATE: Owner Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fans on Tuesday that it is “looking promising,” for Smith to play Sunday and reiterated by point about Collins' want-to. "He is tough,” Jones said. “It’s going to be hard to keep him out of there.''

Rookie running back Tony Pollard dinged up his knee and ankle in the Packers game, but otherwise 3-2 Dallas reports no other notable injury problems. ... And maybe, with Smith and Collins, two solutions.
