Cowboys prep for Giants Week: Who's in (Amari, Zack, Tyron, Byron), who's out of Monday practice
FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys have begun their preparation for Giants Week. From here inside The Star in Frisco, here's who's in and who's out of Monday's practice
Sunday afternoon, we finally get real football with an AT&T Stadium visit from the New York Giants. The Dallas Cowboys are trying to focus on the task at hand ...
"Zeke is as capable as anybody I know,'' coach Jason Garrett said about the possibility of holdout Ezekiel Elliott signing this week and then hitting the ground running. "I don't think there will be a lot of learning there. But that's a hypothetical ... We'll focus on the guys we have right now and get ready for the Giants.''
And those "guys,'' as we enter the Monday workout? Receiver Amari Cooper, offensive linemen Zack Martin and Tyron Smith and cornerback Byron Jones are all expected to do something in practice today. Consider them "limited'' for the day but also consider them working to be ready for Sunday.
After the presser, I asked Garrett about the status of defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford and Taco Charlton. He said that trio will work today, as will Sean Lee.
And the group of running backs here -- including rookie Tony Pollard and vet Alfred Morris -- who figure to run behind Zack and Tyron?
"I feel good about those guys,'' Garrett said. "We'll continue to work all week to get those guys ready to go.''
