Cowboys' Thanksgiving Explosion Has Tony Romo Declaring Dallas 'Complete' & Super Bowl-Worthy
The Dallas Cowboys have much to be thankful for following their Thanksgiving 45-10 beatdown of the Washington Commanders.
After taking a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter, a 25-point explosion in a mere nine minutes from the Cowboys quickly turned the game into a blowout. ... and all in all? CBS Sports' Tony Romo - the former Dallas QB who called the game as the network's top analysis - offered some stellar praise.
Specifically citing the work of young O-lineman Tyler Smith, who he called "a monster on the inside,'' Romo said, "This continuity on the offensive line gives them a chance to win the Super Bowl. This is a complete football team.”
Offensive line power. High-flying weaponry. A sizzling Dak Prescott. A kicker who doesn't miss. And touchdown scorers on defense?
It's easy to see what Romo sees in the 8-3 Cowboys ... even though, again, it took a minute or so for it all to come together.
First, following a turnover on downs from the Commanders, the Cowboys were gifted great starting field position inside the Washington 25-yard line. From there, Dak Prescott and co., went to work, opening the drive with a one-yard run for Tony Pollard. Then, after an eight-yard completion to Cook, Prescott found his top target, CeeDee Lamb, for a 15-yard touchdown pass.
Following another turnover on downs, Prescott added another score as he capped off another quick drive with a 34-yard touchdown pass to KaVontae Turpin to extend the Cowboys' lead to 38-10.
However, the Cowboys weren't done giving thanks to the Commanders. Standout second-year cornerback DaRon Bland broke the NFL record with his fifth pick-six of the season as he intercepted Sam Howell's pass intended for Jahan Dotson and returned it 63 yards to finish off the Cowboys' route.
Bland's interception total is now up to seven this year, with 12 over the past two seasons. Bland's record-breaking pick-six capped off a fourth quarter that saw the Cowboys score 25 points in nine minutes and cap off a 45-10 win.
How'd The Cowboys Get Dolly Parton for Thanksgiving Halftime?
Some think Dallas has feasted on poor teams, and that that might be the Cowboys' undoing. But Tony Romo doesn't see it that way. as 45-10 - even though it took a bit - is a major holiday statement.
