Dak Prescott Breaks PFF Grade Record in Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving Win

The Dallas Cowboys welcomed America into their home for Thanksgiving dinner and promptly served the best meal they could—a 45-10 win over the Washington Commanders.

Cornerback DaRon Bland stole the show with his record-breaking performance that took the top off of Jerry World, but nobody played better on Thursday than quarterback Dak Prescott.

Continuing his post-bye hot streak, Prescott was lights out. Washington’s defense has been prone to giving up explosive plays all season, and the Dallas offense forced the issue. Four different targets had catches of 31+ yards.

In all, Prescott completed 22-of-32 passes for 331 yards and four touchdowns. He delivered strikes in and out of structure and held little regard for Washington’s secondary. Even after playing arguably the best football of his career in the past month, Thursday was the most confident he has looked.

Pro Football Focus ensured fans that Prescott’s big day wasn’t a mirage. He received a ludicrous 97.0 grade for his performance. Not only was it the highest grade any player received this season. It was the best grade a quarterback has received since 2007.

For reference, Prescott was 14 in 2007. He’s 30 years old!

On Friday, head coach Mike McCarthy said he looked like the Canton-bound quarterback he coached in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers. His year doesn’t quite stack up to any of Rodgers’ MVP seasons, but he was incredible on Thursday.

His 0.59 expected points added per play was a 96th-percentile performance. It’s safe to say he earned the turkey leg he stored in the Salvation Army bucket.

Owner Jerry Jones approved.

“If I thought we could have the result of him playing like he is,” Jones said. “I’ll make that a staple on the sideline for every home game.”

For a team burdened by embarrassing prime-time losses, the Dallas faithful couldn’t have asked for a better Thanksgiving. Iconic celebrations, record-setting performances, and yet another win have the Cowboys (8-3) well-prepared for a Week 13 date with the scuffling Seattle Seahawks.
