'Brotherhood!' Dak Reveals Cowboys' Greatest Improvement
Quarterback Dak Prescott is having one of the best seasons of his career. Not only are his Dallas Cowboys 10-3 this season and ahead of the pack in NFC East division, but there is buzz surrounding Prescott's name as an MVP candidate.
And what does the star quarterback name as the one aspect of the Cowboys' newfound confidence this season?
He's got a one-word answer. "Brotherhood.''
Said Dak: “Guys are more disciplined. Guys are being accountable to it. (I'm) not just (saying), ‘We got this brotherhood, that’s our strength.’ But rather like, ‘It’s our strength because of what I do, so I got to make sure I do my job. I got to make sure I stay committed to my role.’ Whether that be a show-team player or whether it be running and clearing a route out.''
Prescott even shouted out the names of some of those "show-team players'' (guys on the practice squad who play the role of opponents in workouts).
“Those practice-squad guys we got right now are some of the best,'' he said. "I promise you, practice has been harder than a lot of these games. And that’s because of Sheldrick Redwine, that’s because of Malik Jefferson, that’s because of Tyrus Wheat. The way they approach the practices and the looks they give us, they’re not (B.S.ing.)
"I think that’s goes a long way. The brotherhood is to make sure we take that application to the field.”
Cowboys 'Truths & Rumors' from Inside The Star
The Cowboys, who play at Buffalo on Sunday, are close to securing the best record in the NFC division and a first-round bye in the playoffs in the coming weeks. It figurwes to be a daunting task: Dallas needs to do is win the rest of its regular-season games and hope that the San Francisco 49ers lose some momentum in the standings.
And if somehow that happens? Prescott will tell you that "brotherhood'' is a reason.
