Dak Prescott is 'Not A Difference-Maker, Just A Game Manager!' Cam Newton On Dallas Cowboys MVP Quarterback

FRISCO - We recently offered the opinion that "Dak Haters'' or even "Dak Detractors'' are in a bad place right now, given that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Prescott is in the midst of a career year that has almost literally everyone praising his performance and putting him at or near the top of the NFL MVP conversation.

Our recently-offered opinion is wrong.

"They're not winning because of him,'' said former MVP Cam Newton, speaking first specifically about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy before including Prescott in the same category. "These are game managers. They're not difference-makers."

Prescott's present credentials: Prescott is completing 69 percent of his passes and he's totaled 3,505 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions. He is, of course, a central reason Dallas is tied for the best record in the league at 10-3.

While we're at it, we'll note that Purdy has completed 70 percent of his passes for 3,553 yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions, and the Niners are also 10-3.

Newton, the former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots quarterback, now hosts a podcast. ... and we don't know if he is tossing out incendiary takes because he truly believes them, or because as wrongheaded as it is, because doing so is a fast track to attention.

Newton points out that this group of QBs (he also includes Tua Tagovailoa of the 9-4 Dolphins and Jared Goff of the 9-4 Lions) is "not turning the ball over'' and is "managing the game.''

NFL oddsmakers, experts and likely voters disagree with Newton's evaluation, obviously, as Prescott and Purdy are top names in the MVP conversation.
