'Daktain America'?! 'SNF' Cringe Promo for Prescott's Dallas Cowboys at 49ers Ripped by Fans: LOOK

SAN JOSE, Calif. - 'Daktain America'?! Yes, "Comedy is Hard,'' but ... NBC's attempt to promote the "Sunday Night Football'' pitting two of the NFL's great powerhouses as the Dallas Cowboys play at the San Francisco 49ers, makes comedy look way more difficult than it needs to be.

NBC has posted a graphic to its social media pages that is among the most "cringe'' things we've seen in some time. It features a lame and awful pun - "Daktain America'' simply doesn't work as wordplay - as it portrays him as a superhero posing in front of the Bay Area's iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Forgetting for a moment that even Cowboys QB Prescott himself would admit that in his two recent playoff meetings he's been something short of heroic (Dallas lost both postseason clashes), the attempt at cleverness falls way short.

The phrase "Daktain America" is getting roasted on social media ... and not just by 49ers fans, either ... who might suggest that an SNF graphic portraying somebody as a winner ought to feature a player for the undefeated 49ers.

As part of the buildup to this game, Dak himself was asked to reflect on the feeling from last season after a second straight playoff loss to the 49ers.

“It’s obvious,'' said Prescott, the leader of his 3-1 team. "You just want to piss me off going into this week, and I appreciate that. I do actually. I do. I appreciate that. I appreciate that.”

In the end, being "pissed off'' probably won't really help Dallas. ... any more than this graphic that might "piss off'' Niners fans will influence the game. But here's hoping that the game, and the "SNF'' telecast, is of higher quality than this lame miss.
