Dallas BREAKING: Bobby Wagner Gets Free Agent Call from Dan Quinn's Cowboys

The Cowboys, Seahawks and Chargers are reportedly among the teams now courting Bobby Wagner, who was the Rams' MVP last year.

FRISCO - Bobby Wagner is free to talk to suitors as Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay recently released a statement thanking the Pro Bowl linebacker for his time in LA.

And the phone calls are now rolling in - including one from the Dallas Cowboys.

“Bobby is an outstanding competitor and a leader that elevates everyone around him,” McVay said. “His perspective, steadiness, and consistency set an example for our players, coaches and staff. We are grateful for Bobby and his contributions to our organization during his time with the Rams.”

All true - and nobody knows that better than Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who was Wagner's supervisor for their years together in Seattle.

The Cowboys, Seahawks and Chargers are reportedly among the teams now courting Wagner, who was the Rams' MVP last year.

Wagner, 32, departs the Rams after signing a five-year, $50 million deal last offseason following his long tenure with the Seahawks. He signed with Los Angeles expecting to contend for his second Super Bowl ring, but injuries derailed LA's season before it began, as the team finished with a 5-12 record.

It was during that tenure that Wagner became a Quinn disciple. A year ago, the Cowboys did indeed contact Wagner, with Quinn making a push inside The Star. But as CowboysSI.com reported at the time, any "offer'' made to the player was not a competitive one ... think "closer to vet's minimum'' than the $10 million APY offer LA made.

And that was that.

Wagner was one of the only stars who was healthy for LA all season long. He played in all 17 games, finishing with 140 total tackles, two interceptions, five passes defended and one blocked kick.

He also totaled six sacks after having just eight in the previous four seasons combined and was named the Rams’ MVP.

In Dallas, Leighton Vander Esch and Luke Gifford are both free agents, and Dallas likes to "sign our own.'' But maybe to Quinn, Wagner is considered "one of us'' - a pitch the Cowboys surely made in their visit with the standout player.
