Cowboys, NFL Training Camps Set To Open

Dallas Cowboys And NFL 'Stay-at-Home' Training Camps Set To Open

FRISCO - COVID-19 is still here. But suddenly, so is the Dallas Cowboys training camp.

This doesn't mean this offseason of controversies and sidebar issues will suddenly be washed away; the NFL remains mired in problems and obstacles. But the NFL has officially set return dates for training camp, despite the delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Cowboys are ready to roll at The Star in Frisco.

The teams were informed of the dates via an email from the NFL's Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent Sr., beginning with a July 21st report date for all rookies - Cowboys and otherwise.

Following the rookies, quarterbacks and injured players are due to report two days later on July 23, while all other players are scheduled to report to their respective camps on July 28.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans, who play in the NFL Kickoff game on Thursday, September 10, will be allowed to report their full rosters on July 25. But otherwise, it's "football season'' - as odd as it all will still be. Some restrictions will continue. For instance, no more than 20 players will be allowed in team facilities at any given time until the league implements a COVID-19 infection emergency response plan for each team. And teams, including the Cowboys, still haven't been able to grasp entirely how to regulate "six feet of distance'' at a job where contact is an occupational requirement.

But Dak Prescott's contract? A non-issue. Ezekiel Elliott's ranking as a running back? Put it behind us. New coach Mike McCarthy getting started? That's on, meaning it's football season. In a "stay-at-home'' way.
