Cowboys’ Bijan Robinson Draft 'Dream'? Pick 'Wouldn't Get Laughs,’ Says Expert

Former Texas Longhorns running back and current 2023 NFL Draft prospect Bijan Robinson can be described in many ways - but could one of them soon be a Dallas Cowboy?

After a stellar career at the University of Texas, running back Bijan Robinson needs no introduction in the Lonestar State - but his stardom could reach a new level should the Dallas Cowboys draft him this spring.

In a state deep with football talent, it's possible that the 21-year-old Robinson has been the brightest non-professional star ... and he's being projected as such in most 2023 NFL mock drafts.

In a pre-combine conference call with CowboysSI.Com and other media members, NFL Network lead draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah raved about Robinson's ability.

"Everybody says that Bijan Robinson is not only the best running back in this class, he is one of the five best players in this class," Jeremiah said ...

"He is elite."

As the winner of the Doak Walker Award given annually to college football's top running back, Robinson has several fans in the scouting community - to the extent that Jeremiah said he's the "most consistently highly graded player in the draft," as some teams are mixed on other top prospects.

But can the Cowboys land Robinson?

Bleacher Report listed trading up for Robinson as a "dream" move for Dallas this offseason, citing the ability to move beyond the contracts of veteran runners Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott

And this idea, per Jeremiah, is spot-on with his personal feelings.

"My philosophy on running backs is I don't mind taking a running back in the first round, as long as your team is ready to win right now," Jeremiah said. "Because if you take into account the guy has four or five, six years of elite production, I don't mind getting him in the first round because you get the extra year on the contract. It's easy to control it."

It's for this that the team taking Robinson "would not get laughs around the league," even if it's in the top-10 - because everybody knows "how good (he) is."

Robinson, a unanimous All-American, finished his career as the fourth-leading rusher in Longhorns history with 3,410 yards on the ground and 41 total scores.

Just as importantly, Robinson added 805 receiving yards, third most by a Texas running back, proving his ability to be a true three-down player at the next level.

But Robinson's more than just a three-down player - he's a three-down gamebreaker and should be among the favorites for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023 ... because he's simply that dynamic.

"He is, no doubt about it to me, one of the premiere, premiere players in the draft," Jeremiah said. "He is a special, special player. One of the best backs we've seen in the last several years."

Ultimately, it remains to be seen if Dallas can land Robinson's talents ... but it's easy to see why doing so would be a dream scenario, especially considering the cap flexibility it would provide.

The NFL Draft presents a world of unknowns, but not for Robinson - he's special, elite and premiere ... and could very well be a "dream" addition to the Cowboys.

"I have no clue where he is going to go," Jeremiah said. "I just know I think he is one of the best players in the draft."
