Cowboys BREAKING: Ezekiel Elliott Settles $1 Million Dog Attack Lawsuit

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott settled a lawsuit from a Frisco woman over his dog biting her

A lawsuit against Ezekiel Elliott will not go to trial as the former Dallas Cowboys running back settled the suit beforehand, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Filed in July 2021, the lawsuit from Jennifer Gampper, a Frisco resident and Elliott's neighbor, sought more than $1 million in damages after Elliott's Rottweiler dog attacked and left her with "severe and permanent injuries." Gampper's attorney, Christopher Hamilton, confirmed to the Morning News that the lawsuit had been "resolved" ahead of its scheduled trial date on Monday.

The lawsuit stems from a May 2021 incident where Elliott's three dogs, the Rottweiler and two bulldogs, allegedly escaped from Elliott's property. The Rottweiler bit two people, both of whom were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, before Frisco Animal Services secured them. Elliott reportedly received three at-large animal citations and the Rottweiler was placed in a 10-day quarantine, The lawsuit alleges that Elliott did not take appropriate measures to contain his Rottweiler despite being "well aware that his dog had a propensity to bite and attack people."

Additionally, the lawsuit also names landscaper Pablo Vela as a defendant, claiming that his failure to close a gate while working on Elliott's lawn allowed the dog to get loose.

This is the third lawsuit involving Elliott's dogs in the last few years. The first came in 2020, when a swimming pool attendant claimed that all three dogs attacked her while visiting Elliott's home. No charges were filed for the incident, however. The second, which court records show is still pending, came in 2021 from an employee at a canine day care in Prosper.

Elliott is still a free agent after the Cowboys released the veteran running back in March. Fortunately for him, though, he won't have this legal situation hanging over his head anymore.
