Dallas Cowboys BREAKING: Leighton Vander Esch Could Be Moved with Scary Neck Injury

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The concern over the neck injury sustained by Dallas Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch on Sunday during the team's 42-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers is grave enough that the team is considering moving him to IR.

That consideration has now been confirmed by Dallas coach Mike McCarthy, and while IR can mean at least four weeks of being off the roster, Vander Esch having suffered a neck injury after he collided with teammate Micah Parsons - could have more ominous tones.

Vander Esch, who remained on the ground for a time here at Levi’s Stadium before being guided back to the locker roil by medical personnel, has a history of having to overcome neck injury issues.

That concern dates back to the 2018 NFL Draft, when Dallas nevertheless made him a first-round pick.

And with the news here, that concern continues, even with initial reports that stated that Vander Esch's X-rays taken here at the stadium came back negative.

The absence of Vander Esch on the roster would leave 3-2 Dallas thin at the linebacker position, an obviously secondary concern in comparison to the LVE injury issue.
