Can Cowboys' Dan Quinn - 'Prime Candidate' - Pick Between Commanders vs. Seahawks?
FRISCO - Here's what we know from sources involved in Dan Quinn's position on this offseason NFL Coaching Carousel, in three bites:
One, if he does not land a head coaching job elsewhere, the Dallas Cowboys would like to retain him - but are planning on him leaving.
Two, from the very start, the Seattle Seahawks - where he was once a Super Bowl defensive coordinator - placed him "atop their wish list.''
And three, he appears to be a enough of a top candidate for the opening in Washington that the Commanders are bringing him in for another interview.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that Quinn is ineed in play for both the Seattle and Washington jobs, terming him a "prime candidate'' for the last two existing vacancies.
Quinn is set to interview with the Commanders for a second go-'round next week after interviewing with the Seahawks in Seattle for a second time this week.
We do get the impression that Seattle is "leaning defense,'' and there are rumors that Quinn has already put on paper his plan to hire a coordinator to run his offense.
We also know for a fact that Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is a top option for the Commanders.
Dan Quinn Leaving Cowboys as 'Package Deal' with Chip Kelly?
Is there a world in which Quinn gets usurped in both spots? Even as Dallas struggled late defensively - that 48-32 playoff loss to the Packers still doesn't sit very well - many inside The Star are hoping for just that.
