QB Leadership? Cowboys Dak Prescott Beats Josh Allen, Tom Brady, Says Cole Beasley
Cole Beasley has made some polarizing statements over the past few years. Some of his latest involving the Dallas Cowboys, however, should be unanimously appreciated by fans of his original NFL employers.
Beasley is still a free agent after spending last season between Tampa Bay and Buffalo but he's apparently keeping up to date on gridiron affairs. He potentially won the hearts of Cowboys fans while responding to a tweet from NFL Rookie Watch, one that involved a fellow former Dallas receiver.
Over in Houston, Noah Brown claimed that he saw "comparisons" between current Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and the Texans' potential franchise thrower CJ Stroud, the second overall pick of April's draft. When Stroud's leadership earned some praise, Beasley said that he's never worked with an offensive captain like Prescott.
"Dak is by far the best leader I’ve played with," Beasley declared. "Dak’s huddle presence is something that can’t be taught. That says a lot if this is true."
Considering the other quarterbacks that Beasley has worked with in both Texas (Tony Romo) and beyond (Josh Allen in Buffalo, Tom Brady briefly in Tampa), that's some lofty praise.
In three seasons working with Prescott, Beasley earned 1,819 yards on 176 receptions, developing a reputation as a reliable slot receiver. He eventually earned All-Pro honors under Allen's watch in Buffalo in 2020.
That, however, apparently wasn't enough to make Beasley forget Prescott, who is set to enter a fateful eighth season leading the Cowboys. Prescott stands as one of the longest-tenured starting quarterbacks in his current locale and some have questioned his "Super Bowl'' ceiling.
If it were up to Beasley, however, Prescott's Dallas fate would be long-sealed.
