Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott 'Confident As Hell' For San Francisco 49ers Rematch
The Dallas Cowboys may have lost a playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers in back-to-back seasons, but you wouldn't know that based on Dak Prescott's morale entering the Week 5 rematch.
The talk of the week surrounding "America's Team" has been on exorcising the demons brought by the 49ers the past two years. Like most quarterbacks, Prescott was quick to shoulder the blame for his team's losses in those games when he spoke with the media on Thursday.
But has that adversity dampened the morale of the eighth-year NFL signal caller? Not by a long shot.
"We're confident in what we've got," Prescott said. "Yeah, there's a lot of good that's going to come from this and come from the changes versus the past year of playing against these guys. One is my play. Simple as that. Go back and turn on that tape. I wasn't my best in either of those games and wasn't close to it. The last one, two or three plays away from winning that game."
Outside of a Week 3 debacle against the Arizona Cardinals, there hasn't been much negative to say about the Cowboys so far this season. Dak seems to be making good on his promise to take better care of the football, and Dan Quinn's defense has been lights-out, including during a 38-3 beatdown of the New England Patriots in Week 4, the worst loss of Bill Belichick's head coaching career.
There has been one knock from some fans and analysts, however, and it has revolved around offensive production in the red zone. Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones feels good about where Mike McCarthy's side of the ball is entering this week, but can the Cowboys score enough points to keep pace with the likes of Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey?
Dak thinks so, largely because he is a big fan of this week's offensive game plan.
"We've got to go out there and execute the game plan that the coaches have for us, and they've got a great one," Prescott said. "We've buttoned that up for the most part today. We'll put the final touches on it for the rest of the week."
The Cowboys are currently 3.5-point underdogs on the road against the Niners, but don't tell Prescott that. In his eyes, his team may very well be the favorites on Sunday night.
"Confident as hell in what we've got," Prescott said.
