Dalvin Cook Signing to Cowboys Odds: Dallas Top 4 Landing Spot?

The Dallas Cowboys have over $20 million to throw around in cap space, and that gives plenty to bring former Viking Dalvin Cook aboard. But ...

The Dallas Cowboys have the fourth-highest odds of any team to land recently released Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook. And hey ... With $20 million in cap space, Cook to the Cowboys is mathematically possible. But there are some "buts'' here ...

First, according to the betting site Bovada, here's how the favorites stack up in the Dalvin Cook lottery:

1. Miami Dolphins, +100

2. New York Jets, +250

3. Buffalo Bills, +500

4. Dallas Cowboys, +1000

5. Cincinnati Bengals, +1000

6. Chicago Bears, +1200

As murmurs of an Ezekiel Elliott return or DeAndre Hopkins signing swirl, the addition of Cook would add another experienced piece to an already stacked skill position unit. But based on what CowboysSI.com has reported? None of those three ideas are exactly "front-burner'' inside The Star.

Cook is the third-leading rusher in Minnesota history, tallying 5,993 yards and 47 touchdowns during his six seasons with the Vikings. Better yet, he's only 27 years old.

Cook has also notched four straight 1,000-yard seasons and started 72 games since 2017, playing in double-digit contests outside of tearing his ACL in week five of his rookie campaign.

Said Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy on Thursday at The Star: "From a personal perspective, great respect for Dalvin Cook. ... but I don't have any comment on it.''

However, we told you there would never be a trade here; CowboysSI.com has already noted the "kicked-around'' status in one sense with our exclusive story on May 17 via a source stating that Dallas has "no interest'' in trading for Cook.

The Cowboys guaranteed starting ballcarrier Tony Pollard a $10 million deal (for one year via the tag). He has 2,616 rushing yards and 1,007 receiving yards during his career since 2019. ... but he was a Pro Bowler a year ago. Those aforementioned stats aren't Dalvin numbers. But no matter what the gambling guys say, the Cowboys seem to think they'll get big production with Pollard ... and without having to pay Cook.
