Cowboys’ Dan Quinn Beat Out Belichick for Washington Coach Job: Report

Dallas Cowboys’ Dan Quinn Beat Out Bill Belichick for Washington Commanders Coach Job: Report

FRISCO - Over our years the NFL, we’ve gotten to know and come to admire Dan Quinn. The Washington Commanders are hiring a new head coach who is a sharp and leader of men.

His players will perform for him and in that regard, he’s a culture-fixer.

But is he “better” than Bill Belichick?

Quinn and Belichick

At some time during this Coaching Carousel, maybe later rather than sooner, Washington reached out to to deposed New England Patriots legend.

He was never their first choice. He probably wasn’t in the top four - a top four that included Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Quinn.

And on Thursday it came down to decision time in DC. And Dan Quinn just beat out Bill Belichick for the job.

Cowboys BREAKING: Quinn Hired Away

Writes The Athletic:

“During the hiring process in Washington, Bill Belichick was considered for the job, per sources. The Commanders spoke with him and he had support from some decision makers. In the end, Dan Quinn is their choice.“

This process obviously represents a slice of humble pie for “the greatest coach ever.” No, we take that back; Belichick, passed over for some of the seven openings and ignored by some other teams - surely is eating the whole damn pie.

Could ‘All-In’ Jerry Hire Belichick as (Gulp!) New Coordinator?

If he’s secretly waiting for Super Bowl coach Andy Reid to retire after The Big Game? Belichick will come out a winner.

Short of that? Dan Quinn gets a chance to turn around a franchise. And Bill Belichick is left trying to turn around a career path.
