Cowboys' Big Plays Fuel First-Half Lead Over Lions

The Dallas Cowboys have come up with the big plays when they needed them to take a halftime lead over the Detroit Lions.

ARLINGTON - After two straight losses, the Dallas Cowboys returned here to AT&T Stadium, a place where they have not lost in almost two full seasons, hoping to find a spark in a pivotal matchup against the Detroit Lions.

So far, so good through 30 minutes as the Cowboys take a 7-3 lead into halftime.

Although there was only one touchdown in the first half, that touchdown may have been one of the best highlights of the Cowboys' season so far. With Lions defenders closing in, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott evaded the pressure and threw a bomb to receiver CeeDee Lamb, who made his defender fall down to score a 92-yard touchdown, the longest in the NFL this season.

For as great as Lamb has been in the first half - with that catch being the highlight of a five-reception, 145-yard performance - he did also have a notable blunder by fumbling out of the end zone for a touchback on the ensuing drive.

However, Dallas' defense came up big by forcing a turnover on downs inside the 5-yard line to keep Detroit out of the end zone. That defense then made another huge play on the following drive, stuffing a third-and-1 to shut down the Lions' two-minute drill. The Cowboys' defense has been strong on third downs the entire half, holding the Lions to just two conversions on eight tries.

Prescott finished the first half completing 13 of 17 passes for 211 yards, the majority of them to Lamb, and a touchdown. Meanwhile, his counterpart in Detroit's Jared Goff completed seven of 15 passes for 81 yards and an interception.

The Cowboys will get the ball to start the second half.
